Running in a Winter Wonderland

Have you ever been so in awe of God’s work in nature that you don’t even really have words?

Ryan and I experienced that today when we decided to go to a trail at a local state park for our run.

We are fairly new runners. We use the Nike Run Club app to be guided through our runs, and we enjoy it! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to start running.

We completed a 45 minute run, covering 2.6 miles. We trudged through the heavy snow, which was thankfully packed down by a snowmobile, we fought the cold temperatures, 15 degrees Fahrenheit, and we had the most splendid run yet.

It was so cold that my eyelashes grew icicles.

Even though it was cold, there was just something about the tranquility of the woods, the snow clinging to the trees, and how there were NO CARS trying to pass us at the speed of light. It was just peaceful. And beautiful. Oh so so so beautiful.

It was honestly just the best. It rejuvenated my soul. I was refreshed.

It was a good reminder that blessings come when you least expect it. You can feel close to God anywhere. I find that I feel closest when I’m marveling at the beauties of His earth.

Wearing a mask to keep my nose warm!

Today’s run wasn’t just beautiful, it was hard. Running through the snow is hard. We had to go over hills so that was also hard.

But even though my calves were screaming, my heart was singing.

I encourage you to find something that makes your heart feel full today. Find the small blessings. Hold on to them. Live abundantly.

With love, from me, to you.

  1. What a beautiful testimony, Abbie!🥰 Like you, I do so enjoy God’s amazing creations.🌎 However, it is definitely not on a run, but just a slow walk.😉😆 There’d be more screaming than my calves!🤣
